POV: you book a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Atlas Mountains regardless of being nervous of heights🏔️

It wasn’t our first time in an air balloon but I was only 12 when I last went in one and clearly had no fears 😂

Was I scared? Absolutely! But the feeling of being brave and enjoying the views were priceless and this bucks-list experience will certainly be one we will reminisce on for years to come 🎈

Postcards from The White Camel, Agafay 🐪🐪🐪

Just 45 minutes from Marrakech, this peaceful pool lodge tucked away in the Agafay Desert was the perfect place to switch off and rejuvenate - quiet, spacious, and seriously breathtaking. Waking up to panoramic views of the desert and Atlas Mountains from our tent was unreal.

It was so lovely to relax by our private plunge pool in the desert heat, while watching camels wander in the distance and soaking up the sunshine.

Although they offer activities and spa experiences, we decided not to and just enjoy the calmness, comfort, and the time to fully switch off and reset. If you’re looking for somewhere to slow down and reconnect (with yourself or someone special), this place is unforgettable.

The perfect sunny day activities when visiting Oxford 🇬🇧 ☀️

We started our day wandering through the beautiful Botanical Gardens. I recommend a visit here, especially this time of year when all the flowers and plants are blooming 😍 - the children loved it and there’s an Alice in Wonderland trail to explore too.

We then walked through the pretty city to @the_folly and enjoyed a riverside refreshment (a must when the sun’s shining!) before setting off on a lovely boat trip down the river, complete with a delicious afternoon tea.

It’s such a lovely experience and you can choose between a gourmet picnic, which we have had before and is so delicious! - or the afternoon tea which is equally as nice.

The little ones loved spotting all the wildlife along the way, and it was such a special day with my mum too - memories we will treasure forever.

On a side note, it was also a great experience to prepare us for a boating holiday we are doing in the South of France this summer, which I can’t wait to share with you. Our skipper showed us how the lochs on the river worked, so I tried to take notice for our future trip 🤭

Desert dreams and golden hour glow at The White Camel, Agafay… still not over how peaceful this escape was! Just us, the dunes, camels in the background and total peace and tranquility. The tents were so comfortable and our private plunge pool was the finishing touch to cool down in the desert heat.

When in Morocco… ride a camel through a palm grove like a total pro (or at least try to look like one)* 🐪🌴

We booked this experience through GetYourGuide and it turned out to be one of the most memorable afternoons just outside Marrakech; palm trees, orange groves, peaceful scenery, and the cutest baby camels trotting and bouncing happily alongside us like it was a casual family day out.

After the camel trek we finished off the experience with some mint tea in true Moroccan style. The guides were so friendly and welcoming and even made everyone a camel out of palm leaves! It was the perfect escape from the city and such a fun way to experience something a bit different.

From the labyrinthine souks of the medina to the vibrant energy of Jemaa el-Fnaa square, this city is a sensory delight. Did you know that Marrakesh is often called the “Red City” due to its rose-hued buildings, a legacy of the red clay used in their construction during the 12th century?

The city’s culture is a beautiful tapestry woven from Arab, Berber, and French influences. The Berber people, indigenous to North Africa, have left an indelible mark on Marrakesh’s language, music, and crafts.

One of the most enchanting experiences here is sipping on sweet mint tea, a staple of Moroccan hospitality. Tea preparation is considered an art form, reflecting the warmth and generosity of the locals.

Marrakesh is also home to the tradition of hikayat, or storytelling, where tales are passed down orally, preserving the rich history and values of Moroccan culture.

Perched on the edge of the pool at The White Camel Lodge in Agafay, where the desert stretches for miles and camels roam freely in the golden light 🐪🐪🐪

From here, you can spot the majestic Atlas Mountains on a clear day a land shaped by centuries of Berber culture, nomadic tradition, and sacred stillness.

Agafay may be quieter than the Sahara, but its silence holds stories.
This peaceful escape gave us space to slow down and reconnect and was the perfect retreat for some R&R with Laz.

The past few weeks have been a reminder to slow down, soak it all in, and appreciate precious family time. Work has been very full on but our weekends have been full of fun with the children. Having that balance has really helped me stay present and appreciate all the little things that much more. Just like the saying goes.. work hard play harder 😉💖

The Aurora Snow Train in Rovaniemi took us deep into the Arctic wilderness, where we cozied up by a fire inside a teepee. We toasted sausages and marshmallows, surrounded by pure winter magic. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better… the northern lights appeared, dancing above us.

Our magical trip to Lapland took us to Apukka in Rovaniemi, where we stayed in a cosy glass igloo. Falling asleep under the Arctic night sky where we were able to watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of our bed was definitely a bucket-list pinch-me moment 🥹🤍

2024 was a year of unforgettable family adventures ❤️ From cityscapes and countryside retreats to coastal staycations and chasing the sunny beaches abroad, here’s a look back at all the memories we made together:

🔹January: We chased the sun in Miami and Palm Beach for business with Roman in tow 👶🏻
🔹 February: A cozy UK staycation full of hot tub fun, winter walks and adventures with the children.
🔹 March: Celebrated my birthday with Laz in a surprise luxury Cotswolds spa getaway. Quality time with endless champagne and amazing food.
🔹 May: Malta’s crystal-clear waters and history made for the perfect family island escape and our friend’s beautiful wedding.
🔹 August: Catchupwith the girls in Marbella, followed by a wholesome Dorset staycation – rock pooling, beach days and fresh coastal air.
🔹 September: A magical stay in a Cotswold hot tub hilly hut with amazing food and wine.
🔹 October: We soaked up the sun in Cyprus for another of our friend’s wedding, exploring beaches, local markets, hiring buggies to explore the island and making lifelong memories.
🔹 December: Rounded off the year in Hurghada, Egypt, with incredible underwater adventures, beach days and quality time. Egypt is up there with potentially being our favourite family holiday yet. The children are at beautiful ages and it’s been absolutely magical building memories in the sunshine.

From this list of highlights and all the little hotel stays in between, 2024 reminded us that the best part of travel is the people we share it with ❤️

A little Autumn spa retreat to reset the mind, body and soul 🍂

Laz and I had a wonderful night away at the beautiful Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa. We were treated to a room upgrade to a suite which was a lovely surprise when we checked in 🙏🏻

On the first evening we dined at the main hotel restaurant and everything we chose was absolutely delicious - they have an excellent chef here!! I couldn’t fault any of the dishes 👌🏻

A wholesome afternoon celebrating one year of @riseandgrind_bish 🎈

We loved everything about this wonderful venue, from the delicious pizzas, the real reindeer, the hundreds of fir trees, live music, drinks, a fun adventure playground, a real snow machine and a fire pit to toast marshmallows, this place is a must-visit this festive season 🌲

Playroom shenanigans with my poorly mini me 🖤

First it was Olivia, and now Roman has been under the weather all week glued to my side bless him. Today was the first day he let me take him into the playroom but he only managed a bit of colouring on his new art setup and we built a tower before he climbed on me for more hugs and wanted to go back to the sofa for snuggles again.

Luckily we have enjoyed several Halloween festivities as a family already this month, but we still haven’t carved our pumpkins yet 🎃 Since it’s November tomorrow, maybe we can make them Christmassy instead and start a new trend 🤭

We hope you have fun if you are trick-or-treating this evening! 👻 Roman and I will be watching his favourite the Jungle Book, row-row-row the boat and having an early night 😉

Throwback to only a couple of weeks ago spending hot sunny days at the beach relaxing with the gentle waves and ocean breeze, it was complete bliss ☀️

Our next visit to the beach will be when we go to Egypt in a couple of months time. Until then I will be embracing every moment of the Halloween, Autumn and upcoming Christmas vibes knowing that when it’s all over we can escape the cold weather and head back to the warm sunshine 🥰

Who says you can’t staycation in your home county? We stayed at Dormy House down the road from us in the Cotswolds for my birthday earlier this year and loved it! So we really wanted to experience a stay at their sister hotel, The Fish.

Having children can be such a whirlwind so we really value the small pockets of time Laz and I get to spend quality time together. We stayed in a Hilly Hut at the Fish Hotel, which was so comfortable and cosy and even had a hot tub and open log fire on the decking which we enjoyed at dusk ✨🥂
